Copan announces the launch of their Universal Biomolecular Medium (UBM™), a next-generation transport medium designed specifically for molecular testing workflows. Unlike traditional transport media, UBM™ contains no toxic chemicals, simplifying handling, storage, and shipping while maintaining reliable nucleic acid preservation.
- Preservation - UBM™ delivers verified performance across real-world temperature conditions, stabilising DNA and RNA from viruses, bacteria, fungi, and yeast for up to 28 days at 2-8°C, 15-21°C, and 33-37°C.
- Performance - UBM™ has been validated with common molecular targets. Testing included influenza A, adenoviruses, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, and Escherichia coli. In comparative studies, samples processed immediately and after 4 weeks of storage showed equivalent or superior performance to the gold standards.
- Safety - UBM™'s non-toxic formulation eliminates complications associated with hazardous material transport. Labs benefit from reduced shipping costs, simplified storage requirements, and streamlined compliance protocols.
